Bangalore's Lalbagh botanical gardens is credited to have one of the most diverse man made collection of flora. At the heart of the city, Lalbagh covers an area of 240-acre.  Apart from more than 1000 species of flora and fauna, Lalbagh is home to  The Lal Bagh Rock, one of the oldest rock formations on earth, dating  back to 3,000 million years and many trees that are more than a century  old.


Bangalore's Lalbagh botanical gardens was started by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan.  It has one of the best collection of rare plants in India, and also India's first ever lawn clock. The Glass House here was modelled on London's Crystal Palace, and its foundation stone was laid by Prince Albert.


Bangalore has produced the highest number of professionals in USA almost 60% of the Indian population abroad is from Bangalore (except Gulf).


Bangaloreans can speak in multi languages. Even a vegetable vendor is capable of communicating in a minimum of 3 different languages. Kannada, Hindi and English.


Bengaluru is a Mecca of Multi-Cuisines. You will get food from any region be it Hyderbadi,  Rajasthani to Bengali. Plus there are the international cuisines like Italian,  Chinese,  Thai etc.


Bangalore is a pleasant place to live in, somehow it doesn’t stop people from taking their own lives. The National Crime Records Bureau shows 35 suicides per 100,000 people in Bangalore, thus acquiring the name of Suicide Capital of India.


Bangalore has a dedicated temple to Pandavas in the world. Shri Dharmaraya Swamy Temple located in Thigalarpet is dedicated to the Pandavas and not found anywhere else. It is also learnt that when Bangalore city was built by Kempe Gowda in  the 16th century, the Kempegowda Gopuras (towers) were built in the four  corners of the city keeping the Sri Dharmarayaswamy Temple vimanagopura  kalasa as a centre point.


Bangalore’s The erstwhile Plaza Theatre on M.G.Road was constructed in 1936 and was modelled after the Piccadilly circus in London. The owners of the theatre visited Great Britain before constructing the theatre to understand how a great film theatre should look like. In its initial days, the theatre was used mostly by the English soldiers for viewing Hollywood movies. The theatre had a wooden dance floor which was used by English soldiers for ball dancing.



Bangalore’s The National High School in Basavanagudi is one of the oldest schools founded in 1917 by Annie Beasant, and counts cricketers Anil Kumble, EAS Prasanna and actor Vishnuvardhan among its more famous alumni.

Bangalore has the country's longest city bus route. BMTC route 600 covers a distance of 117 km per trip.

Bangalore Club was started by Britishers. Winston Churchill who was a member, still owes 13 bucks to the Bangalore Club.

Bangalore’s The Victoria hospital was named after the diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
