Nandi Hills – Muddenahalli
If you live in Bangalore and didn’t plan your weekend? If so, you could take your family and drive away in early hours for a beautiful sunrise at Nandi hill. Nandi hill is located very close to Bangalore International Airport, just about 60kms from the city. The sight of hill top sunrise and the spectacular view will be a memorable to cherish. You could walk along beautiful garden maintained by Karnataka Horticulture Department. Also don’t miss out exploring Tippu Fort and Blessings at Nandi temple. There is another attraction near to Nandi Hill. At 55km from Nandi Hill, you can pay a visit to memorial of Sir M.Vishveshwaraiah at Muddenahalli village. With its newly developed 140 acres of garden project, is one of the upcoming tourist attraction in Karnataka. Both Nandi Hills and Muddenahalli are far from the reach of hustle and bustle and therefore a perfect place for those planning to retire to nature for some time.
Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary-Somnathpur-Shivasamudram
Being tired all the day and when mind need freshness, everyone just want to get out the town for some relaxation. For Bangaloreans, one of such weekend refreshment could be Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary near Mysore. It is situated at a distance of 18kms from Mysore city. This sanctuary is famous for its crocodiles and more than 150+ species of birds all around the world. To make your visit more adventure and memorable, you can enjoy boat tour for exploring Ranganthittu.
Hogenakal Falls – Krishnagiri Dam
Near state border of Karnataka-Tamil Nadu, there two beautiful places, namely Hogenakal and Krishnagiri. These places are vastly blessed with nature’s bounty. Hogenakal attracts with its natural waterfall which is called Hogenakal Falls. And Krishnagiri with its man-made fall or Dam called Krishnagiri Dam. You can first visit Krishnagiri at about 90kms from Bangalore and move further to Hogenakal (at 150kms from Bangalore). People from Mysore can first visit Hogenakal (180kms) and then Krishnagiri (225kms from Mysore). Krishnagiri is also famous for ancient temples and trekking spot along with its reservoir. And even Hogenakal is famous for its scenic location where lot of film shoots takes place.
Sangam- Mekedatu
If you are up for a short trek/hike then Sangam to Mekedatu is ideal for you on a weekend. Sangam is a name given to the place where the confluence of two rivers of South India namely, Arkavathi and Kaveri can be seen. It is an ideal getaway for people from both Mysuru and Bengaluru city. At a short distance from Sangam is Mekedatu, which can easily be trekked. At Mekedatu, one has the opportunity to sit by the beautiful river Kaveri. This can be one of those weekend trips where you reconnect with nature and feel prepared for a fresh week ahead.
